UFC Fight Night 229 post-event facts: Drew Dober passes Dustin Poirier, sets KO record

The UFC returned from a one-week hiatus on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 229, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and saw four of 10 fights end in a stoppage.

The quickest of those finishes came in the lightweight headliner, where Bobby Green (31-15-1 MMA, 12-9-1 UFC) pulled off a stunning upset of Grant Dawson (20-2-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) courtesy of a 33-second knockout.

Event stats

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $189,000.

Green, Joe Pyfer, Drew Dober and Nate Maness earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 229 fight-night bonuses.

The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC Fight Night 229, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

Betting favorites went 3-7 on the card.

Betting favorites fell to 19-15-1 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 1:44:54.

Green has earned five of his 12 UFC victories by stoppage.

Green has landed 1,644 significant strikes in UFC lightweight competition, the most in divisional history.

Dawson fell to 4-1-1 since he moved up to the UFC lightweight division in March 2020.

Dawson has suffered both of his career losses by knockout.

Joe Pyfer def. Abdul Razak Alhassan

Pyfer (12-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has earned 11 of his 12 career victories by stoppage. That includes all three of his UFC wins.

Abdul Razak Alhassan (12-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) fell to 2-3 since he moved up to the UFC middleweight division in April 2021.

Alhassan suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Joaquin Buckley (18-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) improved to 2-0 since he dropped to the welterweight division in May 2023.

Buckley earned the first decision victory of his UFC career.

Alex Morono (23-9 MMA, 12-6 UFC) has suffered six of his 10 career losses by decision.

Dober’s (27-12 MMA, 14-7 UFC) nine knockout victories in UFC lightweight competition are most in divisional history.

Ricky Glenn (22-8-2 MMA, 4-5-1 UFC) has suffered consecutive knockout losses after going his entire career with a stoppage due to strikes.

Alexander Hernandez (14-7 MMA, 6-6 UFC) fell to 2-4 in his past six fights dating back to February 2021.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz’s (16-7 MMA, 9-7 UFC) nine victories in UFC strawweight competition are tied for third-most in divisional history behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10) and Carla Esparza (10).

Kowalkiewicz’s four-fight UFC winning streak at strawweight is tied for the third-longest active streak in the division behind Tatiana Suarez (six) and Loopy Godinez (five).

Kowalkiewicz has eight of her nine UFC victories by decision.

Maness (15-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) improved to 1-1 since he moved down to the UFC flyweight division in November 2022.

Mateus Mendonca (10-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered consecutive losses after starting his career 10-0.

Mendonca suffered the first stoppage loss of his career with a knockout defeat.

JJ Aldrich (13-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) improved to 6-3 since she moved up to the UFC women’s flyweight division in March 2019.

Aldrich has earned eight of her nine UFC victories by decision.

Montana De La Rosa’s (12-9-1 MA, 5-5-1 UFC) three-fight losing skid is the longest of her career. She hasn’t earned a victory since June 2021.

De La Rosa has suffered four of her five UFC losses by decision.
