UFC Fight Night 220 play-by-play and live results

LAS VEGAS – UFC Fight Night 220 takes place Saturday, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results.

UFC Fight Night 220 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

In the main event, Nikita Krylov (29-9 MMA, 10-7 UFC) was supposed to take on Ryan Spann (21-7 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at light heavyweight. However, the fight was cancelled hours away from it’s start time. Now, the co-feature between Brendan Allen (20-5 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Andre Muniz (23-4 MMA, 5-0 UFC) serves as the main event of the card.

Nurullo Aliev vs. Rafael Alves

Round 1 – Alves gets us started with several hard leg kicks. Aliev shoots for a takedown 30 seconds in and gets it. He’s got Alves now against the cage while working from guard. Very little ground-and-pound from Aliev, but relentless pressure. Aliev having a tough time passing Alves’ guard. Oh, and the fight is paused. Alves is complaining that Aliev bit his finger. Referee Mark Smith says he sees teeth marks on Alves’ finger. Very odd. Referee Mark Smith takes a point from Aliev due to biting. The fight resumes. Two minutes left. Alves comes out furious and swinging hard. Nothing connects clean. Aliev closes the distance and presses Alves against the cage. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Aliev immediately puts the pressure on Alves. He closes the distance and shoots. Alves sinks in a guillotine choke and drops to his back. It looks tight. Aliev is struggling and goes to his back. And he’s out! Aliev takes top position. Three minutes left. Aliev moves to half guard and lands come good shots from top. Alves recovers guard. Not much going on here. The bell rings.

Round 3 – Here we go, final round. Alves with a giant knee to the head! Aliev eats it well, though. Aliev shoots for a takedown and gets caught in another guillotine choke. It looks tight! Aliev gives up his back to defend. And he gets out, but now Alves is on mount. Good control here by Alves. He’s looking for an arm-triangle. And Aliev bumps him off and gets top control! We’re halfway through the round. Aliev moves to half guard. Good shots by Aliev from top. Aliev in complete control here. He’s now raining ground-and-pound non-stop in the final 30 seconds. The bell rings.

Carl Deaton vs. Joe Solecki

Round 1 – It doesn’t take long for Solecki to close the distance and pin Deaton against the cage. Solecki fighting hard here for the takedown, but Deaton defending well. Solecki finally takes the fight to the ground. He now gets the back, as Deaton tried to get up. Solecki has Deaton’s back while standing by the cage. Solecki working the rear-naked choke. It looks tight. Man, Deaton is resilient. He’s defended all of these attacks. One minute left. Great defense by Deaton. Solecki now lost the back and he’s now pressing Deaton against the cage. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Thirty seconds in and Solecki shoots and gets the takedown. Solecki extremely dominant here grappling wise. Solecki now in half guard. Solecki moves to side control and shortly after takes the back with the body triangle. Deaton is doing a great jb at defending submissions, but nothing beyond that. Solecki relentless with his submission attacks. Barely any ground-and-pound. Solecki keeps fishing for the choke. Oh and he’s got but only seconds left on the round. And he’s out! Deaton is out cold and the fight is over. Nice finish by Solecki.

Charles Johnson vs. Ode Osbourne

Round 1 – Big kicks from Osbourne early on here. Osbourne pressuring Johnson here, constantly backing him up. Man, hard kicks by Osbourne. Johnson is now pressuring back, but he’s still taking many kicks from Osbourne. Two minutes left. Big takedown from Johnson and now he spins around and gets the back while on turtle position. Osbourne immediately springs up and get backs to his feet. Good straight left by Johnson. Again, Osbourne connecting with hard leg kicks. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Johnson landing a few hard leg kicks himself early on. Osbourne catches a kick and almost turns it into a takedown. They’re back standing. Oh, and the fight is paused. A clear low blow by Johnson puts down Osbourne. Osbourne seems in a lot of pain. After five minutes, the fight resumes. Four minutes left. Good standing elbow by Johnson. Johnson is staying in range against Osbourne and holding his own. Johnson closes the distance and presses Osbourne against the cage. He gets reversed, and it’s Osbourne the one doing the pressure. Two minutes left. Johnson tries to take the back while standing, but ends on bottom. Good control here by Osbourne. Johnson gets up. Flying knee from Johnson connects, but Osbourne eats it well. They both connect as the round ends. Close round.

Round 3 – Osbourne comes out pressing Johnson. These two are very even right now, constantly trading positions in the clinch. Good knee by Osbourne. Another one. They’re back to striking distance. Good jabs by Johnson. Osbourne shoots for a takedown and gets it. He briefly gets caught in a guillotine choke, but slips out. Johnson gets up but Osbourne is pressing him agains the cage. Two minutes left. Johnson gets free. They’re back striking. Good takedown by Osbourne. Johnson gets back up. Thirty seconds left. Osbourne shoots again, crazy scramble and they end back on the feet. They’re trading wild shots. The bell rings. Fun ending.

Round 1 – Leavitt putting on the pressure here on Martinez. Plenty of kicks by Leavitt early on. Leavitt shoots for a takedown, fails, but presses Martinez against the cage. Good control here by the fence from Leavitt. Martinez escapes and the fight is back to striking. Three minutes left. A groin shot from Leavitt halts the action. Martinez takes a quick break and fight resumes. Good knees from the clinch here by Leavitt. Oh and Martinez drops to the canvas. It’s over. Solid stoppage by Leavitt.

Gabriella Fernandes vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius

Round 1 – Oh hard left hand by Fernandes connects. Fernandes has a clear power advantage here. Jasudavicius with a hard leg kick. Jasudavicius is mainly staying on the outside and looking to counter. Tons of movement from Fernandes. Oh man, another big left by Fernandes. Jasudavicius has a solid chin. Jasudavicius closes the distance and presses Fernandes against the cage. Three minutes left. Jasudavicius working for the takedown here. Good defense by Fernandes. And Jasudavicius gets the takedown with two minutes left. She’s landing busy shots from top. Good control here by Jasudavicius. Thirty seconds left. She moves to side control now. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Big left by Fernandes. Now a one, two! Nasty body shot by Fetnandes. Man, Jasudavicius is tough. And a good right hand connects for Jasudavicius. She now closes the distance and presses Fernandes against the cage. And there’s the takedown. Fernandes gets back up, but she continues to get pressed on the cage. Jasudavicius gets another takedown and this time keeps Fernandes on the canvas. She’s working from half guard. Two minutes left. Jasudavicius gets the crucifix and begins to drop hard shots. Nasty elbows from Jasudavicius. One minute left. Fernandes is in a tough, tough spot. She’s taking big shots. And Fernandes gets out with seconds left. The bell rings.

Round 3 – Very fun fight here. Jasudavicius immediately looking to close the distance. Fernandes keeping her distance. Good left by Fernandes. And there’s the takedown from Jasudavicius. Jasudavicius controlling by the cage. Fernandes threatens with a guillotine, but she’s in half guard. Jasudavicius seems ok. Jasudavicius keeping calm, landing a few body shots. She’s out form the guillotine and into side control. Back to half guard. Jasudavicius maintaining control here, not much damage. The pace of the fight has slowed down. One minute left. Jasudavicius turns it up and lands a few shots from top in the final seconds. Good showing by Jasudavicius.

Round 1 – Peek comes out aggressive. Hard leg kick by Peek. Peek with a hard right to the body. Clean one, two lands by Peek. Gonzalez closes the distance and gets the takedown. He was getting mauled on the feet. And Peek gets up 30 seconds later. He puts the pressure back on Gonzalez. Gonzalez ties him up and presses him against the cage. Three minutes left. And there’s the takedown by Gonzalez. Peek keeps getting back up and Gonzalez hitting mat returns. Peeks gets up and starts brawling! Oh and he connects on Gonzalez. Gonzalez smartly takes the fight to the ground. Peek threatens with the kimura, but unable to get it. Peek gets back up. Peek connects with a big right hand! Gonzalez is wobbled bad. Peek all over him. Nasty shots by Peek. What a chin by Gonzalez. Oh and Gonzalez drops to the canvas. The fight is over. Nasty shots by Peek.

Yohan Lainesse vs. Mike Malott

Round 1 – Malott comes out pressuring. Good kicks by Malott. Lainesse seems a bit gun shy. More kicks from Malott, but they get blocked by Lainesse. Both fighters very tentative here, not much action. Three minutes left. Lainesse still has yet to land anything. Lainesse missed big on a hook and Malott uses that to bring the fight to the ground. Malott working from halfguard. Lainesse recovers guard now. Back to half guard. And Malott sinks in an arm-trinagle. There’s the tap. Easy win for Malott.

Montana De La Rosa vs. Tatiana Suarez

Round 1 – Here we go! Suarez’s long awaited return. They lock horns and begin to fight in the clinch. Suarez presses De La Rosa against the cage. And there’s the takedown from Suarez. She’s working from guard. And that’s why they call her the female Khabib! Suarez completely dominating De La Rosa on the ground. Oh, and De La Rosa gets back up, but she’s still being pressed against the cage. Two minutes left. Hard knee to the body by Suarez. De La Rosa making Suarez work here despite getting controlled. Good pressure by Suarez. Thirty seconds left. Suarez keeps De La Rosa pressed against the cage until the bell.

Round 2 – Immediately, Suarez closes the distance and takes down De La Rosa. Suarez now on side control. Good elbow to the body by Suarez. More. Suarez is starting to open up with ground-and-pound. And De La Rosa escapes and gets back to her feet, but she is still tied to Suarez. Suarez drops to a guillotine! It’s tight. And there’s the tap. Suarez is back!

Don'Tale Mayes vs. Augusto Sakai

Round 1 – They touch gloves and the fight is on. Heavy leg kick by Sakai. Another one, man. Sakai very aggressive here in the start. He presses Mayes against the cage. Mayes reverses the position and is he who presses Sakai. They break away. They trade leg kicks. Mayes attempts a takedown and comes up short. He presses Sakai against the cage. Sakai reverses the position and gets a front headlock on Mayes. Sakai landing multiple hard knees to the head. Two minutes left. More knees from Sakai. Mayes gets out of the front headlock, but still getting pressed against the cage. They break away. A leg kick drops Mayes to the canvas. Sakai on top. One minute left. Mayes gets back to his feet in the final seconds, and the bell rings.

Round 2 – Sakai connects with a combo and immediately closes the distance and presses Mayes against the cage. They break away. Hard leg kick by Sakai. Sakai breaks free and they’re back to striking range. Two minutes left. Back to the cage, as Sakai presses Mayes. Sakai keeping control here, but no damage. He hold the position until the bell.

Round 3 – Same dynamic. Sakai wastes no time to pin down Mayes against the cage. Mayes breaks away after a minute, eats a leg kick in the process. Sakai closes the distance once again and presses Mayes against the fence. He’s tired and Mayes seems to be able to break away with more easy. They’re back striking. Good left hook by Sakai. Now Mayes presses Sakai against the cage. Sakai puts him in a front headlock and reverses the position. Sakai landing knees to the head. He now drags Mayes to the ground. Mayes looks exhausted. Not much damage here, just Sakai controlling. Two minutes left. Mayes gets back up and presses Sakai against the cage. Oh! Spinning elbow connects for Mayes. Sakai closes the distance once again. These two grappling back-andforth in the clinch. Sakai drags him down to the ground. The bell rings.

Brendan Allen vs. Andre Muniz

Round 1 – Main event time. Allen takes the center of the octagon and looks to pressure Muniz. Good left hook by Allen. A big right hand connects for Allen. It seemed to stun Muniz. Allen looking sharp here. Good spinning kick to the body by Muniz. Couple of good hooks connect for Muniz. Two minutes left. Man, huge right hand connects flush for Muniz. He’s getting the better of the striking now. Muniz closes the distance and looks for a takedown. Allen defends well and fight stays standing. Good right hook to the body lands for Allen. Allen gets accidentally poked in the eye, but it didn’t seem too bad and fight resumes shortly. They exchange shots for a few seconds and bell rings.

Round 2 –  Good one, two connects for Muniz early on here. Allen putting on the pressure here on Muniz. He’s throwing big, but most of the shots are being blocked by Muniz. Muniz closes the distance and goes for a takedown, but Allen reverses the attack and ends on top. Allen working from guard. Two minutes left. Good short elbows by Allen from top. Allen advances to side control. One minute left. Allen controls the action all the way to the bell.

Round 3 – Hard right hand by Muniz. Again! Muniz connecting often eraly in the round here. Allen eats them well. Allen with a good right hook to the body. Allen is bleeding slightly from the left cheek bone. Three minutes left. Muniz connects with a couple of hooks. It’s a close fight on the feet, but Muniz seems to be connecting more. Huge takedown by Allen! He lands right on side control. Two minutes left. Allen moves to mount. Now he takes the back. He’s threatening with a rear-naked choke! Muniz is defending well. It’s getting tighter and tighter. And there’s the tap! Allen submits Muniz. Very impressive.
