UFC Fight Night 199 video: Jordan Leavitt taps Matt Sayles with a slick inverted triangle

The final UFC card of the year started off with an impressive finish by Jordan Leavitt.

The Dana White’s Contender Series veteran picked up his second stoppage win in the UFC by locking in a super slick submission on his opponent Matt Sayles.

Once Leavitt (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) got the fight to the ground, he was able to catch Sayles (8-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) off guard, and locked in an inverted triangle out of nowhere. At first, the submission appeared to not be locked in tight enough to get the finish, but the squeeze from Leavitt forced a tap.

The official stoppage was recorded at 2:05 of the second round.

Leavitt, 26, rebounds from a unanimous decision loss to Claudio Puelles in June in an impressive fashion. Both wins by “The Monkey King” under the UFC banner have come by stoppage. In his UFC debut in December 2020, Leavitt defeated Matt Wilman by slam just 22 seconds into the first round.
