Darren Till was when he stepped into the octagon to face the No. 6 ranked Donald Cerrone in the welterweight main event of UFC Fight Night 118. It was Till’s 17th professional fight. Cerrone had 42 fights to his name with 35 of those bouts coming under the WEC/UFC banner. Cerrone was a slight favorite over Till.

Till controlled the center of the cage from the start of the fight. He showed no fear of his much more experienced opponent. As the first round wore on, Till found his range and began touching Cerrone with his fast and powerful strikes. With he hurt Cerrone with a left hand, Till wasted no time pushing his opponent to the cage and unloading his hands. The end came at the 4:20 mark of the first round.
Till earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his win. He also earned a shot at former two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Thompson and Till meet in the main event of Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 130 from Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
