Darren Till is out of his UFC Fight Night main event with Marvin Vettori, with the Liverpudlian having revealed on Tuesday evening that he had broken his collarbone in training.

The middleweights were due to clash on 10 April in Till’s first bout since a unanimous decision defeat by former 185lbs champion Robert Whittaker last July.

Italian Vettori, meanwhile, last competed in December, outpointing Jack Hermansson to extend his win streak to four fights.

Till revealed his injury on social media on Tuesday, writing: “I’ve been sat here for a good few hours debating how to say this & put into words what I’m feeling & im just going to say it straight...

“I’VE BROKEN MY COLLARBONE!!! I’m out my fight next week against Marvin.

“Every person who is around me or who has been around me knows I train on a daily basis with f***** up knees, lower back, shoulders, hands & the list goes on.

“Yesterday while drilling I fell, & straight away I knew I’d broken something. To say I’m f****** destroyed by it is an understatement. I’ve literally put my heart, soul, mind, physical body, cash, nutrition, sleep, recovery & then some into making sure I went out there next week & took his head off. And I was 100% sure I was going to... and with ease!!!

“I’m sure he was thinking the same but ahh well... I am sorry Marvin Vettori, I hope you get a new opponent and we can do this sometime soon in the future, I respect you highly as a competitor.”

It is currently unclear whether sixth-ranked Vettori (16-4-1) will take on a replacement for fifth-ranked Till (18-3) following the 28-year-old’s withdrawal from the contest.

American Kevin Holland (21-6), who fought and won five times in 2020 before losing to Derek Brunson on points less than two weeks ago, took to Twitter to offer to step in against Vettori, with the 27-year-old quickly replying: “Let’s go.”
