UFC boss Dana White doubles down on offer to make Tyson Fury vs Jon Jones

UFC boss Dana White has insisted he will make Jon Jones vs Tyson Fury if the Brit is serious about fighting in the octagon.

Heavyweight champions Jones and Fury are both considered as pound-for-pound greats in their respective sports and a fight between them has been discussed since UFC commentator Joe Rogan discussed the hypothetical match-up on his podcast. Rogan insisted that Jones would win in a street fight, something Fury refuted by insisting "no man born from a mother" could beat him.

Jones responded to Fury's comments by telling him to get in contact with White to set up the fight, but Fury seemingly backtracked on his claims by insisting that he would only compete against Jones in boxing. White has now doubled down on his offer to Fury to prove who would win in a clash between the pair.

“There’s this debate going on about who is the baddest man on the planet,” White said. “Jon Jones is the baddest man on the planet, there’s no doubt about it. So when we talk about baddest man on the planet, if two guys fought in a fight, who would win? If you want to discuss another baddest man on the planet, it would be Tyson Fury in a boxing arena, and we all know if Jon Jones boxed Tyson Fury, Fury wins.

“The offer is out there if you want to do it in the UFC. I know he was messing around a little with MMA for a little while there, let’s do it. Let’s answer the question. If you want the fight, if you want the title of baddest man on the planet, let’s do it. I’m in. We could all talk about this forever, but there’s only one way to find out. I’m willing to do it. Tyson can call me himself. He has my number, we have a good relationship, or Tyson’s people can call me and we’ll get it done.”

UFC legend Conor McGregor crossed over to the ring for his illustrious 'money fight' against Floyd Mayweather in 2017, but he was stopped in the 10th round as Mayweather improved to 50-0. White told Fury that he would be compensated well for fighting Jones, just like Mayweather was when he fought McGregor.

“All of these boxing guys want to keep talking about this and keep it in the ring," White added. "I’m telling Tyson Fury, who I respect very much, if you really want to find out who the baddest man on the planet is, I will make that fight. I will make Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury in the octagon, and we’ll figure out [payment]. We figured out how to pay, we’ll figure out how to pay you too Tyson.”
