A fun women’s strawweight matchup is set for an upcoming UFC event.
Looking to build off the momentum of recent wins, Hannah Goldy and Jinh Yu Frey will meet at the UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Feb. 26 at a location and venue yet to be announced.
Two people with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Goldy (6-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) picked up her first UFC victory in September when she submitted Emily Whitmire with a first-round armbar. The victory came after back-to-back defeats to Diana Belbita and Miranda Granger.
Meanwhile, Frey (11-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC), a former Invicta FC atomweight champion, has found success following a bumpy start to her promotional tenure. After back-to-back losses in her first two UFC fights, Frey defeated Gloria de Paula and Ashley Yoder via unanimous decision.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Feb. 26 includes:
- Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Zhu Rong
- Hannah Goldy vs. Jinh Yu Frey
