UFC 249 card latest news: Dana White insists event will go ahead without Khabib Nurmagomedov

Dana White insists UFC 249 will go ahead without Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The lightweight champion has withdrawn from his main event bout with Tony Ferguson due to the coronavirus pandemic.

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported on Sunday that an agreement had been reached between the UFC President and Vladimir Putin to allow Nurmagomedov travel to the United States for the April 18 bout.

But White said this was untrue, adding that he will reveal the full card for the event on Monday.

He replied: "The card is happening but @TeamKhabib is out. I will announce the entire card tomorrow."

One man who will not be replacing Nurmagomedov on the card is Conor McGregor after his coach said there was "no chance" of the Dubliner fighting Ferguson in less than two weeks time.

He told  Ariel Helwani on ESPN MMA's Instagram: "I think it would be kind of insane at the moment (to hold an MMA event).

"We don't know everything about this disease, but we know a bit. I think right now there should be a really strong lockdown for at least the rest of the month of April.

"It is a changing situation, so maybe the government can look at that and the experts and decide May 1, maybe life starts again, but right now I don't think it's smart to be trying to put on fights right now, guys training and cutting weight, lowering your immune system.

"All of those type of things while there's still so many unknowns out there, I don't know."
