‘UFC 243 Embedded,’ No. 3: Israel Adesanya meets Paul Pierce

The UFC’s 10th pay-per-view of the year takes place Saturday with UFC 243, and the promotion’s popular “Embedded” series returns to get you ready.

UFC 243 takes place at Marvel Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.

In the main event, Robert Whittaker (20-4 MMA, 11-2 UFC) is set to return from the longest layoff of his MMA career to put his middleweight title on the line against Israel Adesanya (17-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), who comes in as interim champion in attempt to unify the gold. In the co-main event, lightweight strikers Al Iaquinta (14-5-1 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Dan Hooker (18-8 MMA, 8-4 UFC) go toe-to-toe.

The third episode of “UFC 242 Embedded” features the four fighters. Here’s the UFC’s description:

On Episode 3 of UFC 243 Embedded, interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya meets NBA legend Paul Pierce, gets his own championship ring, and trains alongside lightweight teammates Dan Hooker and Brad Riddell, who are also on the fight card. Heavyweight Tai Tuivasa drops weight and sharpens skills in the gym. At fighter check-in, lightweight Al Iaquinta makes plans for Hawaii with welterweight Maki Pitolo, bantamweight Khalid Taha pays respects to divisional king Henry Cejudo, welterweight Dhiego Lima gets food delivered, and middleweight champion Robert Whittaker keeps it understated as he braces for “the biggest fight ever.” UFC 243 Embedded is an all-access, behind-the-scenes video blog leading up to the middleweight title unification bout taking place Saturday, October 5th.
