UFC 240 bonuses: Deiveson Figueiredo-Alexandre Pantoja scrap earns ‘Fight of the Night’

A fight between two top-notch flyweights which was oddly placed deep on the preliminary card took home UFC 240’s Fight of the Night honors.

Deiveson Figueiredo defeated Alexandre Pantoja via unanimous decision on across-the-board scores of 30-27.

But don’t let that scoreline fool you. This was a back-and-forth battle in which both competitors gave it as good as the got, a matchup of heart and hustle in which Figueiredo was just a little bit better in each round.

And while the UFC fully earned second guesses for not putting this fight on the pay-per-view main card, at least they made good after the fact, as the bout was named the card’s “Fight of the Night.” That earned both $50,000 bonuses.

Additionally, there were a pair of “Performance of the Night” awards handed out on the evening. Welterweight Geoff Neal won his sixth consecutive bout and stayed unbeaten in UFC competition with a second-round TKO of Niko Price in an exciting scrap. And featherweight Hakeen Dawodu scored a sensational knockout of Yoshinori Horie in the final minute of the third round of their fight.

Both Neal and Dawodu earned $50,000 for their efforts.

The UFC announced a gate of $1.4M USD and an attendance of 12,144.

UFC 240 took place Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.
