UEFA set to hand the Premier League end of season extension

UEFA are willing to extend the deadline set to leagues to declare proposals to continue the season.

Europe's governing body set leagues the deadline of May 25 to submit plans on how to finish the current campaign.

But according to the Daily Mail , they are willing to push back that date with the Premier League running out of time.

The English top flight and its clubs met on Monday to discuss plans to return to training, and there is set to be a vote next Monday on how to finish the season, one week before the UEFA deadline.

With clubs still split, there are fears the Premier League might miss that date.

But there may be a safety net for the English top division, as well as others around Europe.

According to the report, UEFA 'accept the complex issues' being faced by leagues as they look to take steps towards continuing the season.

And they are key 'not to add pressure' to an already delicate situation.

That could mean the May 25 deadline becomes a soft one with discussions possibly being allowed to continue after that date.

Premier League clubs met via video conference on Monday to discuss end of season plans, with voiding the season again taken off the agenda.
