UEFA set to deliver update on match rescheduling plans, transfers and player contracts

UEFA are set to hold a video conference on Wednesday to update the FA and other associations across Europe about the latest on rescheduling matches, transfers and player contracts.

Football has been put on hold across the world due to the coronavirus pandemic with all English football postponed until April 30 at the earliest.

The Euros have been put off until the summer of 2021 and the Champions League and Europa League latter stages have also been postponed until further notice.

There are questions over what happens with player contracts, with often run until June 30, as well as how transfers will work, with players such as Hakim Ziyech joining Chelsea from Ajax on July 1.

While the various leagues across the globe work out exactly what happens next and when they can feasibly and safely return to sport, UEFA is set to provide an update on their own investigations into the next steps.

"UEFA has invited the General Secretaries of its 55 members associations to a video conference on Wednesday 1 April at midday to share an update on the progress made by the two working groups that were created two weeks ago and to discuss options identified with regards to the potential rescheduling of matches," read a statement by UEFA.

"The meeting will look at developments across all UEFA national team and club competitions, as well as discussing progress at FIFA and European level on matters such as player contracts and the transfer system."

The Premier League are set to have a stakeholders' meeting via video conference on Friday.
