UEFA set to axe host cities for Euros in decision that would have huge impact on Wales - reports

UEFA chiefs are ready to rip up their plans for next summer's Euros in a decision that would have a direct bearing upon Wales, according to reports.

The Sun say bosses accept the tournament cannot go ahead with the planned 12 host cities and UEFA are ready to drop some venues.

One of the first to go, the paper claims, will be Baku in Azerbaijan. That is where Ryan Giggs' side are due to meet Switzerland and Turkey, before a Rome clash with Italy.

Thousands of Welsh fans had prepared trips to Baku before the tournament was postponed this summer. Many still hope to go next year.

Other venues said to be in danger are St Petersburg in Russia and Bilbao in Spain.

It could even be that one country stages the entire tournament, with four different venues being used.

Wembley already has seven games, including England's three group matches, plus the semi-finals and final.

Condensing the tournament would ensure less travelling, although UEFA remain hopeful fans will still be able to attend.

The Euros will definitely go ahead, with millions received from TV companies which will be ploughed back into the game.

But staging it in one country would mean teams being able to stay in bubbles.

Further meetings are planned to debate the issue, says the paper.
