UEFA's Coronavirus plan leaves Rangers facing indefinite wait to play Bayer Leverkusen

Rangers face an indefinite wait to play the second leg of their Europa League tie against Bayer Leverkusen.

UEFA today agreed that both the Europa League and the Champions League would be suspended until further notice.

It was also confirmed that, as expected, Euro 2020 will not take place this year. The European Championships have now been delayed unti 2021.

Rangers lost the first leg 3-1 at Ibrox, and had been due to face Leverkusen in the BayArena on Thursday.

As reported in Record Sport, UEFA President Alexander Ceferin and secretary general Theodore Theodoridis have announced the suspension of the Europa and Champions Leagues until the COVID-19 pandemic is in a "descendant phase".

UEFA will form two working groups to handle the crisis, with the first dealing with the fixture calendar and the second working on the financial consequences of the decisions taken.

The first group will include two representatives apiece from UEFA, the ECA (European Club Association) and the European Leagues.

The executive committee are yet to ratify the decision but that will be finalised later on Tuesday.
