UEFA have extended Aaron Wan-Bissaka's Champions League suspension after he received a red card against BSC Young Boys.
United took the lead in their Champions League campaign opener against BSC Young Boys earlier this month thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo, however, the game's momentum shifted into the host's favour after Wan-Bissaka received his marching orders.
That red card meant Wan-Bissaka is suspended for United's game against Villarreal, but UEFA have now extended the ban.
It was announced on Wednesday that UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body have decided to extend Wan-Bissaka's suspension for yet another Champions League fixture after United's match versus Villarreal 'for rough play' against BSC Young Boys.
UEFA's statement also said that United have now informed Wan-Bissaka of the decision.
The decision means Wan-Bisakka will be forced to miss United's hosting of Atalanta on October 20 at Old Trafford.
The announcement might come as a surprise to some United fans, especially when considering Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne only received a yellow card for an almost identical challenge against Paris Saint-Germain in the same competition on Tuesday.
Diogo Dalot looks set to deputise for Wan-Bissaka in United's Champions League games against Villarreal and Atalanta.
