UEFA Euro 2020: Youri Tielemans breaks Liverpool silence as Alexander Isaks sends fans wild

Your Euro 2020 digest for Tuesday, June 15.

Youri Tielemans on Liverpool links

Youri Tielemans has brushed off questions over his Leicester City future after being asked if he sees himself as Gini Wijnaldum’s replacement at Liverpool.

The Reds have been continually linked with the Leicester midfielder in recent weeks after his side once again missed on Champions League football last season.

That speculation has further increased after Liverpool confirmed that Wijnaldum would leave the club following the conclusion of his contract at the end of this month.

Paris Saint-Germain last week announced the signing of the Dutchman on a free transfer after beating Barcelona to his signature.

Tielemans still has two years left on his City deal and the King Power club are hoping to tie him to a new contract.

Andy Robertson reacts to Patrik Schick wondergoal

The Scotland captain said it was a 'one in a million' goal as he defended teammate Andy Marshall for his positioning for the strike.

His effort from 49.7 yards now holds the record for the furthest distance of a goal scored in the European Championships since 1980.

The Scotland captain, who became the first Scot to lead out the team at a European Championships since Gary McAllister in 1996, was one of the standout performers for the Scots but it wasn't to be as a Patrik Schick brace spoiled the party at Hampden Park.

He said: "Marshy (Andy Marshall) has to be in that position because if there is any ball in behind, he's in the perfect position."

Alexander Isak sends Liverpool fans wild with Sweden display

Liverpool fans have sent a clear transfer message to their club’s board following the display of Alexander Isak for Sweden against Spain.

Luis Enrique’s side kicked-off their Euro 2020 campaign against Sweden at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville tonight with the game finishing goalless despite their dominance.

And despite all the focus being on Enrique’s side going into the game, it was Isak who stole the show with an impressive performance.

The 21-year-old, born in Stockholm, is currently on the books of Spanish side Real Sociedad.

The forward was the only La Liga representative in his side’s squad against the three-time European Championships winners.
