Chelsea have been given the green light to continue their summer spending spree by UEFA.
The Blues have already splurged around £90million on Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner from Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively this summer - Frank Lampard's first two signings at Stamford Bridge.
But Chelsea show no signs of easing up, with a left-back the next priority - Ben Chilwell the most heavily linked at around £80million.
German sensation Kai Havertz is also linked with a move to west London, a deal that could cost Chelsea upwards of £80million too, while the Jadon Sancho to Chelsea rumours continue to persist.
The Blues are unlike any other club in the Premier League so far, with the rest of the teams counting the cost of the coronavirus crisis and likely to be more frugal in this transfer window than any other before it.
Premier League champions-elect Liverpool turned down the chance to sign Werner, baulking at his price tag, with Jurgen Klopp admitting transfers would be tricky for the Reds this summer.
And that could give Chelsea the opportunity to cut the gap to Liverpool and challenge for the Premier League title next season.
UEFA released a statement on Thursday detailing their decision to suspend Financial Fair Play rules for one season in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic - a move that could benefit Chelsea and allow them to continue spending.
A UEFA statement said the emergency measures aim at "giving clubs more time to quantify and account for unanticipated loss of revenues" and "neutralising the adverse impact of the pandemic by allowing clubs to adjust the break-even calculation for revenue shortfalls reported in 2020 and 2021, while at the same time protecting the system from potential abuses".
Chelsea’s business over the past few seasons has to spend money that they have raised from sales, using a plethora of loanees and academy players to raise funds.
It has often kept them in line with FFP measures and by also qualifying for the Champions League and Europa League it means they have been able to keep up with earning more than they spend.
However, with the new regulations it has meant that the Blues can be a little more fruitful in the transfer window, which they have shown with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Chelsea will be using the money raised from Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata’s sales to balance the books, but they could take advantage of the new rule if they are to go after Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz.
