The Champions League final is set to be moved to Saturday June 27 under a new proposal by UEFA.
The governing body confirmed last Friday that all fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League had been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
UEFA also announced that the draws for the quarter-finals of the Champions League and Europa League, planned for Friday, have also been postponed.
All of Europe’s top leagues have faced widespread disruption, with the Premier League also postponing fixtures until the start of April at the earliest.
And following a meeting between UEFA and the representatives of its 55 member associations, together with the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues and a representative of FIFPro, it appears they have come up with a solution as to when to play the Champions League and Europa League finals.
According to Spanish publication Marca, following the postponement of Euro 2020, the Europa League final will be moved to Wednesday June 24, and the Champions League final will be held on Saturday June 27.
The Europa League final was initially due to take place on Wednesday May 27, while the Champions League was due to take place three days later at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Turkey.
One suggestion in the media in the last few days was that UEFA could make a 'final four' tournament to complete this season’s Champions League and Europa League.
But it remains to be seen whether that would be the case, as the governing body is yet to release any information on how they plan to play all outstanding fixtures.
