UEFA carpet Feyenoord ahead of Rangers clash as fans pay the price for misbehaviour

Feyenoord have been banned from selling tickets to their fans for next month's Europa League game at Porto.

The punishment follows disturbances during a previous clash against Young Boys in Basel.

UEFA have fined the club €50,000 due to the behaviour of their supporters during the 2-0 defeat in Switzerland last month and an additional €5000 for "acts of damage".

Crowd disturbance charges were also levelled at Feyenoord after their supporters threw objects and set off fireworks.

UEFA confirmed they'd taken action via a statement on Monday.

It read: "The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to ban Feyenoord from selling tickets to its away supporters for its next (1) UEFA competition match."

The Dutch club were given 30 days to contact Young Boys for the settlement of damages caused by their supporters.

Dick Advocaat's side host Rangers at De Kuip on Thursday night in a make or break clash.

Steven Gerrard 's side can eliminate their Dutch foes with victory as Group G looks set to go to the wire.

Just three point separate all four sides heading into the final two matchdays.
