Wembley to undergo pitch inspection ahead of crucial Tottenham Champions League clash

The Wembley playing surface will undergo an inspection on Monday ahead of Tottenham’s clash with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday.

When Spurs played City last Monday, the pitch was in poor condition, and covered in NFL markings after a game there 24 hours earlier.

With Tottenham’s new stadium facing further delays, their stay at Wembley has been extended and their presence, combined with the national stadium’s events calendar, is taking its toll.

Since Anthony Joshua’s September 22 fight, which left some bare patches on the Wembley pitch, three NFL games have been hosted under the arch.

Tottenham’s next ‘home’ game following the PSV clash is a London derby against Chelsea, before which England play two games at the stadium over the international break.
