Uefa await report from Tottenham vs Man City with Spurs set to issue lifetime ban to pitch invader

Tottenham are set to hand out the new stadium's first lifetime ban to a pitch invader.

A supporter ran onto the pitch in the second-half last night Champions League quarter-final first leg, where he was confronted by City’s Fabian Delph before being removed by stewards, leaving Mauricio Pochettino furious.

The man, dressed in all black, appeared in the closing moments of the game before the Spurs boss intervened by running onto the pitch.

Pochettino was captured by TV cameras shaking his head disapprovingly as he walked off, with the incident coming in just the second game at the clubs’ new stadium

Referee Bjorn Kuipers then prevented Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen from getting involved, before the fan was escorted off the pitch by a match steward.

It is the latest in a series of pitch invasions of late after a Birmingham City fan was jailed for 14 weeks after attacking Aston Villa player Jack Grealish last month during the Midlands derby.

On the same day, a fan ran onto the pitch during Arsenal's Premier League game against Manchester United and was issued a lifetime ban by the club after shoving United's Chris Smalling.
