Uefa announce Euro 2020 ticketing plan following Arsenal vs Chelsea Europa League criticism

Uefa have announced that they will operate a 'fans first' ticket sales approach to their first ever pan-Europe competition.

The tournament, which runs from the 12 June to 12 July 2020, will see 24 finalists playing in 12 different cities across Europe, including Dublin, Glasgow and London.

The organisation says 82 per cent of the tickets available will go to football fans and the general public, with one million tickets for the 44 matches priced at 50 euros (£43) or less.

Uefa have been heavily criticised this season over their allocation of tickets made available to fans for both the Champions League and Europa League final.

Liverpool and Tottenham fans will share 33,226 tickets for the 1 June showdown at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano stadium, while Arsenal and Chelsea fans will share 12,000 of 68,700 seats in Baku for the Europa League final on 29 May.

The first phase of ticket sales will run from the 12 June to 12 July, with 1.5m on sale to the general public - an increase of more than 500,000 of what was available for Euro 2016 in France.

Phase two will commence in December of this year, after the finals draw has taken place, with a third phase scheduled for April 2020.

A number of tickets will also be made available for disabled fans at every game, and will be placed in the lowest pricing category regardless of their location in the stadium.
