Udinese are poised to make a move to add another Scottish star to their ranks amid interest in Bristol City defender Ross McCrorie.
The Serie A giants are on the brink of completing a deal to sign midfielder Lennon Miller in the coming days. The £4.5million fee will be a record sale for Motherwell as Miller gets set to continue his career on the continent.
And Herald Sport can reveal that Udinese are also tracking McCrorie this summer as boss Kosta Runjaić looks to add to his defensive options.
It is understood a fee of around £3.5million would be required to convince City to part with the 27-year-old before the close of business. Championship rivals Norwich City have also expressed an interest in McCrorie, while it is believed clubs in Major League Soccer are keeping a close eye on developments at present.
McCrorie was on target as The Robins started their campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory away to Sheffield United on Saturday. It marked an eye-catching opening weekend for new boss Gerhard Struber, with the Austrian showing his faith in McCrorie to feature at wing-back.
The former Rangers and Aberdeen defender scored four times in the final seven matches last term as City reached the Championship play-offs before losing to Sheffield United. In an interview on the eve of the new term, McCrorie explained his eagerness to pick up where he left off this season.
"As a wing-back, in the modern day, you’ve got to be able to get back post and you’ve got to be able to defend your back post,” McCrorie said. “So it’s just about getting up and down.
“For me, it’s about the timing. I did a lot of analysis and video stuff looking back at my game, and I remember the first half of the season, I had two or three chances I should have scored, and they came back to haunt me. It’s just practice in training and that calmness in the final third."
