Uddingston co-driver Stuart Loudon pleased with ninth-placed finish

Uddingston co-driver Stuart Loudon described it as a “rally of attrition” as he and Alex Laffey finished ninth overall at Rally Ypres last weekend.

The duo were the third British Championship crew to finish at the rally in Belgium on June 28 and 29, and said they had to battle intense heat, as well as a demanding course.

Loudon, grandson of Tunnock’s magnate Boyd Tunnock, said: “It’s fantastic to be back on the podium.

“We are pleased with the result. It hasn’t been a great start to the championship for us, so to get a strong finish on such a challenging rally is brilliant.

“The rally was very good, but very demanding. Temperatures were between 35-40 degrees out of the car and must have been between 50-60 in the car.

“It was definitely a rally of attrition; there were quite a few cars going off the road, but we managed to keep our noses clean and get to the finish without any dramas.”

Next up for Stuart is the Ulster Rally on August 16-17.
