Udderly brilliant news as Ayrshire panto is saved by The Coo Shed

Ayrshire's first in-house panto at The Gaiety Theatre since it re-opened  in 2012 will go ahead thanks to backing from a local business.

For the first time in seven years Ayr's Gaiety Theatre will host its very own in-house panto, Jack and The Beanstalk starring a host of Scottish stars.

And it's all been made possible thanks to The Coo Shed who is making the theatre's festive dreams come true by backing the panto.

It was in danger of not happening if a sponsor couldn't be found for the popular Ayr theatre which is a registered charity.

Biut on Tuesday The Coo Shed and the theatre met up to launch their Christmas spectacular which stars Gavin Jon Wright (River City), Karen Bartke (Scot Squad), Chris Forbes (Scot Squad), Kirsty Malone (Sunshine On Leith), David McGowan (Taggart), and Jillian Cunningham- there will be no shortage of Fee-Fi-Fo-Fun.

The Gaiety felt The Coo Shed was the obvious choice as this year's panto is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Opened in 2017 and based in rural Ayrshire’s South Corton Farm, The Coo Shed is a nursery and coffee shop and panto fans may not see one of the real cows from the farm on stage but there are props including milk bottles being used as props.

Alison Kerr, owner of The Coo Shed was surprised but delighted to support the panto, when the theatre called we didn't hesitate to support it.

"We are udderly thrilled and excited to be supporting The Gaiety Theatre’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk this year.

"We’ve herd it’s going to be a moo-revelous show!"

Set in the fictional town of Auchinfleg in Thin-Ayrshire it is filled to the brim with local traditions, fresh faces and a brand-new script boasting Ayrshire references thanks to Ken Alexander and Fraser Boyle’s writing.

Suzanne McLellan, Marketing and Audience Development Manager for The Gaiety said: "We’re delighted to be working alongside Alison and the Kerr Family on our upcoming Pantomime- Jack and the Beanstalk.

"This is a huge year for us here at The Gaiety as we produce our first production since re-opening in 2012 and we hope Ayrshire audiences are ready for the climb of their life."
