UDAIPUR: Tension gripped Kotra village on Friday when members of a Hindu organisation forcefully shut down shops in the market demanding the arrest of a boy of a minority community who eloped with a girl of another community.
On Thursday, the mother of the girl committed suicide when her daughter had eloped with the boy. The girl's family had alleged that the boy had taken away their daughter on the pretext of marrying her. The mother irked by the relationship of her daughter with the boy consumed poison and died during treatment in a hospital. Police have registered a case and started investigation and formed a team to locate the whereabouts of the duo.
Police reached the spot to calm down the irate villagers. The villagers did not let police carry out post-mortem and demanded that it should be done only after the boy and the girl are being brought back.
