UConn Had Items Stolen Off Bus During Practice in Las Vegas

While UConn cruised to a win over Arkansas on the court in Las Vegas, the Huskies had to deal with some more issues off the court during the men’s NCAA tournament. Coach Dan Hurley told the press after the game that the team had items stolen from their bus during practice at the UNLV campus on Tuesday.

According to UConn athletic director David Benedict, several players had items stolen including center Donovan Clingan’s iPad. Benedict confirmed that a police report was filed afterwards.

“It was a debacle,” Hurley said, via Mike Anthony of the New Haven Register. “Obviously when you play at UConn, you have tremendous resources. The way we travel gives us a chance to pursue championships. It wasn’t what you expected when you got to Las Vegas for the Sweet 16. We didn’t know there would be police reports from day one.”

The incident comes after the team had to change hotels due to room conditions that were below standard.

“We didn’t know we’d be moving with our tails between our legs back into the hotel just to get our bags and leave,” Hurley added. “It was an awkward situation. But now we’re in a much better place.”

While the Huskies deal with the off-court mayhem in Las Vegas, they are staying out West a few more days to play Gonzaga in the Elite Eight on Saturday night.
