Uche Ikpeazu taking Wycombe medical as Hearts striker set for Championship switch

Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu is set for a switch to Wycombe Wanderers after undergoing a medical.

The Championship side are keen to add the powerhouse forward to their ranks to bolster their attack after their shock promotion via the play-offs.

And Record Sport understands they are on the verge of getting their man after he traveled south to undergo his medical on Friday.

Ikpeazu arrived at Tynecastle on a free transfer in 2018 from Cambridge United and hit Scottish defences like a wrecking ball, with teams struggling to cope with the font man’s power and physicality as Craig Levein’s side surged to the top of the league.

But he fell out of favour after Levein’s departure, with Daniel Stende l only using the 25-year-old sparingly towards the end of last season.

It seems the former Watford and Reading striker is now heading for the exit door as Robbie Neilson reshapes his squad ahead of the Championship season kick-off on 17 October.

He has already shipped out fellow striker Conor Washington to Charlton Athletic and full back Sean Clare to Oxford as Hearts offload their higher earners.

With Liam Boyce and Steven Naismith nailed on to be the starting partnership in attack under Neilson, Ikpeazu may have found his chances limited once again, so has taken the opportunity to try his luck down south.
