The NCAA Tournament Round of 64 is entering the last few games, and soon enough we’ll know the entire field of 32. First, #9 Central Florida have to face off against #8 VCU in an even matchup that should keep any fan engaged through the end.

#9 UCF
The University of Central Florida could do with some pep in their step entering March Madness, with the school returning to the NCAA Tournament after 14 years away but lacking in form somewhat. The school’s last game was a disappointing 79-55 loss to Memphis in the quarter-finals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament, and Friday’s opponents VCU threaten to give them as good a run for their money.
The UCF Knights went 23-8 in the regular season and beat two ranked opponents toward the end of their conference slate (Houston and Cincinnati), showing they at least have the potential to surprise. Despite suffering defeat in each of their last two outings, coach Johnny Dawkins can hope for a fruitful return to the East Region bracket.
#8 VCU
Mike Rhoades was unsuccessful in his attempt to qualify for the NCAA Tournament during his maiden season as VCU coach, but the school have returned after demonstrating great promise during their 2019 season. Following a mid-season wobble in form, VCU ended 25-7 and took the Atlantic 10’s regular-season crown. It didn’t translate in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, however, as they crumbled 75-70 to Rhode Island in their first-round matchup and bowed out at the first hurdle. They meet the University of Central Florida in Columbia on Friday and are looking to make it into the round of 32 for the 10th time in the school’s history.
