UCF (7-2) vs. Tulsa (2-7) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Don’t blow this off because Tulsa is 2-7 – it’s a whole lot better than it might seem.
That might be a wee bit of an overstatement, but at the very least it’s an interesting 2-7 team. It’s also a bit of a hard luck team when it comes to the schedule – there’s a chance that all nine teams it has played so far will go bowling.
The offense is just interesting enough to keep up the pace for stretches, and the defense isn’t completely miserable. However …
It’s UCF on a national stage.
The team might be off the radar after two losses by a combined three points, but it’s still among the most devastating Group of Five programs going with the offense hanging up 41 points or more in four of the last five games.
Tulsa will put up over 300 passing yards and should keep pressing, but the O line will get destroyed by an underappreciated UCF defensive front that lives in the backfield.
The Knight D will take over in the second half to bust the game wide open. Tulsa QB Zach Smith will be under constant pressure, the Knight O will capitalize on everything with a balanced explosion – the UCF backs will combine for well over 200 yards on the ground – and it’ll be another great performance to stay alive in the AAC race.
