What’s Going To Happen
It’s so disappointing. This was supposed to be one of those games and one of those moments that made the college football season special.
Instead, it’s just an interesting battle that should’ve been a preview of the American Athletic Conference championship.
UCF is still amazing. It’s fallen off the national radar after losing twice, but it’s only dropped the two games by a total of four points. The offense is still incredible – the Knights just destroyed Temple on the road – and the team is still among the most explosive and exciting in the country.
Houston isn’t.
Give the Cougars credit for continuing to ball out in what’s become a lost season. They pushed SMU in a 34-31 loss, the offense is still able to push the ball a little bit, and the ground game is just enough to be a potential problem if it gets going right away.
However, the Cougar secondary is among the worst in the nation – getting consistently hit for 200 yards or more, and allowing two touchdown passes or more in every game – and UCF’s Dillon Gabriel will be more than happy to keep it going.
The Knights will explode at home early on and coast from there. Houston will continue to be plucky and put up enough scores to keep this from being totally embarrassed, but this should be effectively over by halftime.
