Why UCF Will Win
That’s how you tune up. UCF could’ve hung 100 on Florida A&M, but all it needed was a half to get 48 points the 62-0 win. The key was getting Brandon Wimbush time to get his feet wet with the passing attack. He wasn’t razor sharp, but he threw two touchdown passes and let the running game do the rest.
The UCF receiving corps needed to reload a little bit, but No. 1 guy Gabriel Davis came up with a great game last week, and Tre Nixon emerged as a leading target with six grabs. The Knights have the team speed to get out hot like Ohio State was able to do against the Owls – FAU has to prove it can keep up with an offense that’s still getting the parts together. But …
Why Florida Atlantic Will Win
The Owl passing game has the upside to hang around, at least for a little while.
Chris Robison kept pushing the offense after the Owls got down, even though it was against the Ohio State backups. FAU has a good enough ground of skill parts to push the Knight secondary a bit.
The defensive front has to be the star after doing a not-that-bad job against the Buckeye running game. It got hit hard by a big Justin Fields dash, but JK Dobbins was held in relative check. More than anything else, the D needs Wimbush to struggle a bit. Okay … a lot. He was fine against Florida A&M, but he only hit 12-of-23 passes.

What’s Going To Happen
FAU will be fired up with the shot at UCF in Boca Raton, but the explosion will come late in the first half. The Knight will pull away with a few big pass plays, but the Owls will keep pushing to at least keep this from being a total wipeout.
