UCF’s Trysten Hill a good late round candidate for Miami

With the NFL Combine behind us, the speculation over which players should be snagged by the Miami Dolphins in the draft continues to ignite the fan base.  The fans desire their franchise in South Florida be blessed with opening day fortunes, as they have been in recent years with Laremy Tunsil and Minkah Fitzpatrick tumbling into the Dolphins’ lap.

Assuming that fortune does not smile on the Dolphins the same way, as it would need to in order to land highly touted prospect like defensive tackle Ed Oliver, the defensive tackle position still needs to be addressed.

With that in mind, there is an option right here in the state of Florida that could be intriguing as a day-three prospect for the Dolphins to select: UCF’s Trysten Hill.

The reason Hill is a fit has a lot to do with the mantra of head coach Brian Flores.  He’s not just looking for guys of a particular size or type, he’s looking for versatility.

Standing at 6’3” and 300 lbs., the former Knight was in the top fifteen at his position among attendees in Indianapolis, running a 5.04 40-yard dash while also hitting 28 reps on the 225-bench press. He has the size to clog the middle as a 4-3 tackle and also the speed of a 3-4 end to control the outer gaps in the line.

Draft pundits say that he needs to get stronger in the off-season to assure he can battle at the NFL level but none have denied his ability to quickly attack at the snap. Hill also demonstrates a relentless motor, he’s never one to lay on a block. Instead, he is continuously battling with his upper and lower body to try to create space.

Hill has enough mobility to fly down and make tackles from behind where appropriate.

One question for Hill? His “coachability”. Hill had friction with the current staff at over how he was integrated into the game plan during his final season.

But considering that Hill will be expected to play in multiple fronts if landing in Miami, this could not only provide him an environment he plays comfortable in but one that fosters is growth to be prolific in either system as a pro.
