ORLANDO, Fla. _ UCF added a home game with Florida A&M to its 2020 football schedule, the school announced Tuesday.
It's the second consecutive season in which the Rattlers travel to Spectrum Stadium and the third overall meeting between the two schools. The Knights beat FAMU, 62-0, in the season opener on Aug. 29.
The addition of FAMU completes next season's nonconference slate which includes three home games against North Carolina (TBD), Florida International (Sept. 12) and Florida A&M (Oct. 10) with a road contest against Georgia Tech (Sept. 19) in Atlanta.
The Knights will also have four home games as part of their American Athletic Conference schedule with those matchups set at a later date. The conference schedule will be different as the AAC makes the transition from to an 11-member league following the departure of UConn to the Big East in July 2020.
This is the third matchup announced by the school over the last month with UCF set to play a home-and-home series with Boise State (2021, 2023) and BYU (2023, 2024).
UCF athletics director Danny White and his staff have been working on scheduling future football series, but he said in April it has become increasingly more difficult with the program's recent success on the field.
"I understand why it's a difficult proposition, because we're getting good and we have access to a lot of talent here," White said in April prior to a booster tour stop in Orlando. "I get their perspective, but I wish I would have had better foresight a couple of years ago when I first got the job after (an) 0-12 (season) to schedule a bunch of games because they were easier then."
