UCD pair Liam Scales and Neil Farrugia are have reportedly caught the eye of Premier League Champions Manchester City.

20-year-old Sclaes and 19-year-old Farrugia have both been regulars for the Students this season in the Premier Division, and also featured in Stephen Kenny's first Republic of Ireland under-21 squad.

Farrugia started the 3-0 win over Luxembourg and impressed in a forward role, while Scales has been the backbone of the UCD side at centre-back for more than a year, starring in their First Division-winning campaign.

They have been invited to train with the Manchester City under-23s after catching the eye of their Irish scout Mick Collins, and the Irish Independent reports they will accept the offer.

Farrugia has previously turned down overtures from Queens Park Rangers, while Scales was subject to an unsuccessful bid from reigning champions Dundalk over the winter.

City are no strangers to the League of Ireland market in recent times, having already snapped up young stopper Gavin Bazunu from Shamrock Rovers .
