Ucas shares website update after A-Level students struggle to log in on results day

Ucas has updated A-Level students after many complained a section of their website wasn't working on results day.

Students reported being unable to log into the Track system to find out which higher education institution they will attend in September, reports The Mirror.

One student tweeted: "You've had five months to get this right.

"You knew everyone would want to find out online. A crashed system is wholly unacceptable."

Another added: "You'd think that after years and years of results day that Ucas would've updated their servers to accommodate the high demand at 8:00am."

While a mum tweeted to the account: "What is happening?

"Unable to log in - this is so unfair on all the students."

However Ucas has now shared an update, apologising for the slow service and assuring social media users everything was now running as it should be.

The Ucas official Twitter account sent out a tweet to its 137,800 followers this morning that read: "Ucas Track is now running as usual, we're really sorry it was running slowly. We're here to help if you need us."

While a Ucas spokesperson told us: "At 8am we saw a surge in demand for our website, seven times higher than at the same point last year. We immediately responded and increased our capacity and the service returned to normal within thirty minutes.

"We apologise for the frustration this has caused, and we are here to help students throughout the day."
