Ubisoft to bring back Prince of Persia as a VR escape room

Ubisoft has announced that there will be a new Prince of Persia game this year – in the form of an escape room.

The seminal series of platforming games had not received a major release since the Prince of Persia Trilogy in 2011.

Titled Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time, the game will take place in a VR (virtual reality) rendering of the Fortress of Time, a memorable edifice from 2004’s Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Teams of up to four players must explore the Fortress and solve tricky cooperative puzzles in order to escape.

True to its name, the game will also give players the ability to slow, stop and rewind time.

Dagger of Time will not be Ubisoft’s first venture into the world of escape rooms. They have previously released two escape rooms based on the popular Assassin’s Creed games, called Beyond Medusa’s Gate and Escape the Lost Pyramid.

The first Prince of Persia game was released to great acclaim in 1989. The franchise was also adapted into a blockbuster film in 2010 starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

The escape room will launch this spring in over 300 locations worldwide, including 15 dotted around the UK. You can see the full list of locations here.
