Ubisoft released a free next-gen update for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, Last Rites, featuring a new mission and visual upgrades across all platforms. Starting today, it also launched an insider program, offering you a chance to help build the next game in the series.
The Last Rites update is already available as part of Ubisoft’s celebration of the Ghost Recon franchise’s 25th anniversary on Aug. 6. The celebrations span multiple titles. But the game that has the most time in the spotlight is Wildlands.
Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites
Last Rites is a free standalone Wildlands mission set in a darker, more oppressive Bolivia. Your target is a cult leader, La Llorona, and the setting promises to be much more sinister. Gameplay-wise, Last Rites introduces more customizable options, like team compositions, damage, UI, weather, time of day, and more. The iconic event featuring the Predator is also back.

With Last Rites, we wanted to create an experience that honours that legacy—something that feels authentic to longtime Ghosts, celebrates what makes this franchise special, and reflects our appreciation for the players who have been with us every step of the way.
As a next-gen update, Last Rites brings visual upgrades to current-gen consoles and PC with support for 60 FPS gameplay. There’s smoother combat, improved distance rendering, enhanced lighting and shadows, and a sharper image targeting 4K resolution.
Wildlands and Breakpoint free weekend
To celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, both Wildlands and Breakpoint are free to play starting Aug. 6 until Aug. 10. You can also claim Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for free on PC through Ubisoft Connect until Aug. 13.
Later in September, Ubisoft also promises a 25th Anniversary Bundle for Breakpoint, which includes free items such as the M4A1 Tactical Brown, Wolf Enhanced Helmet, and Opheis Mk.II Hunter. If you haven’t had the chance to try out the Ghost Recon games, this weekend is the perfect opportunity.
Ghost Recon Insider Program
While this weekend promises to be all about Ghost Recon, there’s one more thing Ubisoft announced. Starting today, you can sign up for the Ghost Recon Insider Program to get a chance to help build the next game in the series.
To sign up, head to the website, select your platform (Ubisoft Connect, PS5, or XBOX Series X|S), log in with your credentials, and fill out a short survey. The survey asks about your experience with the Ghost Recon series and what games you play in general.
