A new report claims that Ubisoft's next mainline game for the "Assassin's Creed" franchise, known by the codename "Hexe," already has a release date set for next year.
Should this prove to be accurate, the next game would be coming two years after the last mainline game released, "Assassin's Creed Shadows," was released in 2025.
Ubisoft Is Launching 'Hexe' in 2027, Says Leaker
According to trusted leaker and insider Tom Henderson (via Insider Gaming), Ubisoft already has a release timeline for its next mainline game in the "Assassin's Creed" IP, which is codenamed "Hexe."
Specifically, Henderson said that he has heard from sources that there will be a potential delay to "Hexe's" release, which could arrive by late 2027 during the holiday season.
Initially, it was expected that the game would be available around the first half of 2027, potentially in June, with Henderson claiming that this was also the consensus over at Ubisoft. He claims that, at present, it is still the expected release timeline for "Hexe," but changes are possible.
As per Henderson, the move comes after the recent decision within Ubisoft to reallocate 50 developers working on "Assassin's Creed Hexe" to the company's Interproject team several days after the project "Alterra" was canceled.
'Assassin's Creed': Busy Year Ahead
According to ComicBook Gaming, Ubisoft remains on track for a 2027 release date for the next mainline game of the action RPG franchise after 2025's release of "Assassin's Creed Shadows," whose release faced delays.
However, it still remains unconfirmed what Ubisoft has in store for its fans in the upcoming "Hexe." There are speculations that it would involve magic, witchcraft, and the like.
That said, from this point to next year, Ubisoft has a busy year ahead as, in July, it is releasing the much-awaited "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced," its remake of the beloved 2013 game.
