One of two men allegedly involved in a 24-hour crime spree in which several cars were damaged and one man was stabbed in the hand has been arrested.
Queensland police said an 18-year-old man was arrested on Friday night while travelling as a passenger in an Uber at Wynnum.
Police were searching the area for the man when they happened to spot him in the ride-share car.
The Uber driver, who was not involved in the car thefts, was not taken into police custody.
The teenager and another man were wanted by police over a number of carjackings in Brisbane and Maryborough this week.
Officers said two men first tried to steal a car parked in the driveway of a Sunnybank Hills home, south of Brisbane, on Thursday morning.
When the female owner jumped inside her car to stop the thieves, the offender fled and got into a stolen white coupe with a waiting accomplice.
Police said a man at the home ran to the coupe and tried to take the keys but sustained stab wounds to his hand.
The offenders then drove off.
A police helicopter tracked the offenders as they travelled north, where they crashed a car in Maryborough before assaulting a 63-year-old man and stealing his vehicle.
The pair's latest offences were in the Fraser Coast region, where they stole a white sedan from an address in Dundowran Beach before using it for a petrol drive-off at Kilkivan, west of Gympie at 6:30am on Friday.
The 18-year-old Carina man is due to face Richlands Magistrates court on Monday.
Police are still looking for the second man who they say should not be approached.
