Uber is collecting donations for refugees on Wednesday

(Uber)

Uber, the car-hailing app, has pledged its support for refugees by partnering with Save the Children to support the charity’s child refugee crisis appeal.

The startup has launched UberGIVING, an initiative to make it easier for people to make donations across the continents.

On Wednesday 9 September,  from 12pm to 8pm, anyone using the Uber app will be able to donate items collected free of charge. Uber then delivers the donated items to Save the Children for sale in their shops across the UK.

The users should be able to order a car to collect their items by simply opening the app and swiping the slider to ‘GIVING’.

“We’re all used to getting a ride at the push of a button. Now, we want to use Uber to help refugees in desperate need. As always, none of this would be possible without our amazing partner-drivers,” Uber said.
