Sun-Times file photo

An Uber driver was shot during an ambush Monday evening in west suburban Cicero.

The driver was confronted by four people with guns after he arrived to pick up a ride near 23rd Street and 55th Avenue around 7:35 p.m., according to Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania.

The driver, a 39-year-old Indiana man, was taken in serious critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center, Hanania said.

One suspect was in custody and police were searching for the three others, he said.

Police were expected to provide an update Tuesday afternoon.
