Uber driver acquitted of raping drunk Sydney passenger

A new study says some Uber drivers are earning half the statutory minimum wage.

A former Sydney Uber driver has been acquitted of raping a passenger in Sydney's north-west.

Yamur Sadiqi, 31, was arrested in September 2016 and charged with committing an act of indecency and sexual intercourse without consent.

The charges related to an incident in which a 26-year-old woman was picked up at West Pennant Hills before being driven home.

A New South Wales District Court jury yesterday found Mr Sadiqi not guilty of all six charges.

The court had previously heard the woman was "very drunk" and sent a text message to a friend on the night that read: "Help me, I'm being taken advantage of by an Uber driver."

Mr Sadiqi welcomed the acquittal, saying "justice has been served".
