London Tube and bus updates will now appear on Uber’s app for the first time as the ride-hailing app launches a fresh bid to promote wider transport options.
The firm said the new “Public Transport” option being made available will help promote the reduction of private car ownership and air pollution in the capital.
Real-time information on the London Underground, bus, rail, tram and riverboat services across the city is now available on the app alongside Uber’s various journey options.
Jamie Heywood, the app's regional general manager for northern and eastern Europe said: "London is home to the world's most iconic public transport network, and we're excited to now provide live transit information in the Uber app.
"Over time, it's our goal to help people replace their car with their phone by offering a range of mobility options - whether cars, bikes or public transport - all in the Uber app."
Earlier this month, Uber announced it would begin charging an extra pound for journeys in London's congestion charge zone to help drivers pay the £11.50 daily fee.
The firm said it would make car-sharing UberPool journeys and those involving wheelchair accessible vehicles exempt from the new charge.
David Reich, Uber's head of transit said: "With 3.5 million Londoners relying on Uber, we recognise the important responsibilities that come with being a good partner to this great global city.
"We share many of the same goals as the cities that we serve and are committed to addressing the same challenges: reducing individual car ownership, expanding transportation access and tackling air pollution."
