Uber and Uber Eats were down — live updates on the outage

Uber app open a phone next to a car.

Were you just struggling to order an Uber or get food through Uber eats? You're not alone. Both of these services were down for millions of users around the U.S.

Our suspicion is this was related to the current Cloudflare issues that have knocked out a huge chunk of the internet today.

But given a fix has been deployed by Cloudflare, we're not 100% whether that's the case or if something else is at play. Follow along for live updates while we figure out what's happened.

At the time of writing, over 5,000 people have reported Uber as down on Down Detector. 81% are reporting the app is not working.

Got some hungry customers too

Looking on over to the food delivery side of the business, Uber Eats has seen 5,647 user outage reports, which started spiking at 11:30am/4:30pm GMT today.

"I'm hungry I just want to order some food. Internal server error," Ashley Jones commented on the Down Detector page.

Definitely U.S. only

After checking, it looks as if Uber and Uber Eats do open in the U.K., but more and more people are raising the red flag on X about U.S. outages.

A lot of drivers and customers are seeing this screen whenever they try to open the app.

"I just picked up a order from raising canes and it won't let me load to know where I'm delivering it too," Lynnetge6 posted on Down Detector. "I restarted my phone and it logged me off and now it doesn't show I've been order that I have to deliver. And also it won't let me contact anybody."

Given this outage seems to be hitting drivers and couriers, and causing problems like this, I can only hope it's fixed rapidly and these people are paid for any orders that went through during the outage.

Heading in the right direction

A huge drop in user outage reports has led to the conclusion that this issue is over, be it the Cloudflare outage or otherwise. Tom's Guide reporters in the U.S. have confirmed it's working again.
