UB40 founding member dies tragically ahead of Dublin gig

Founding member of UB40, Terence Wilson, who is better known as Astro, has tragically passed away after a short bout with an illness.

The vocalist was due to play a gig in the 3 Area with his former band mates in February next year.

Astro performed in the reggae-pop band for thirty years and fans have been left devastated by the news.

His former band mates in UB40 were left "devastated" was the news.

A post from Ali Campbell and Astro's Twitter account read: "We are absolutely devastated and completely heartbroken to have to tell you that our beloved Astro has today passed away after a very short illness.

"The world will never be the same without him. We ask you to please respect his family’s privacy at this incredibly difficult time."

The Birmingham-based group, who got their name from an unemployment benefit form, are well known for their hit Red Red Wine.

They have sold over 70 million records worldwide.
