Gulf States Report Rise in Coronavirus Cases

The number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Gulf states continues to rise. Reuters

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention announced on Thursday 698 new COVID-19 infections and 407 recoveries, in addition to two deaths.

It said the new coronavirus cases were detected through 37,000 tests conducted over the past few days.

The cases brought the total number of those infected in the country to 21,084, while the total number of recoveries reached 6,930.

As for Oman's Ministry of Health, it announced 322 new infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Sultanate to 4,341.

The newly diagnosed cases include 80 Omanis and 242 foreigners.

However, the ministry reported no new COVID-19 fatalities, keeping the death toll in Oman at 17.

In Kuwait, the Ministry of Health announced 947 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 11,975.

Six deaths were reported in Kuwait, bringing the death toll to 88.

Earlier Thursday, the Ministry announced the recovery of patients 188, bringing the total to 3,451 recoveries.
