Qatar announced on Thursday that it had placed 28 people and entities on a terrorism list, prompting United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash to remark that the names confirm evidence against the Gulf state as a sponsor of terror.
Gargash tweeted: “The Qatari Interior Ministry released a terrorism list that included 19 individuals and eight entities.”
“Ten of them have already been blacklisted by the four boycotting countries,” he stated.
“Qatar is therefore confirming the evidence against it and its support of extremism and terrorism,” he added.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt announced in June a diplomatic and economic boycott of Qatar over its support and financing of terrorism.
Named on the new Qatari list were two Qatari citizens who were described by the boycotting countries as financiers of the extremist Nusra Front group fighting in Syria. Their whereabouts are not clear.
