
The UAE's official spokesperson of the health sector, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, said on Thursday that 31,809 new COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country, leading to the identification of 483 new cases among various nationalities.
This has brought the number of total infections across the country to 8,238.
Speaking at a press briefing, she also announced six fatalities from the virus from different nationalities, bringing the number of deaths to 52.
The UAE government said an additional 103 patients had recovered from the coronavirus after receiving the necessary medical care, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,546.
The UAE has shortened the nationwide coronavirus curfew by two hours to now run daily from 10 pm to 6 am for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, state news agency WAM said on Thursday.
The curfew to help stem the spread of the coronavirus had previously run from 8 pm to 6 am daily.
Dubai on Thursday allowed cafes and restaurants to resume business, and shopping malls to be opened partially from 12 pm until 10 pm, but with a maximum capacity of 30 percent, Dubai's media office announced in a statement.
The statement added that it would also allow resuming public transportation services including subways starting April 26.
Meanwhile in Kuwait, 151 new coronavirus infections were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 2,399, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Thursday.
The Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said that one death was reported and the total number of deaths reached 14.
He added that 55 patients were in intensive care, 22 of them were in critical condition.
In Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of 623 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
The ministry also said that it did not register new deaths, keeping the toll at 10 amid 61 recoveries, bringing the number of recovered cases to 750.
The ministry conducted 3,445 tests in the last 24 hours, raising the total to 73,457.
