Egypt and UAE held talks in Alexandria on Wednesday in support of efforts to strengthen pan-Arab cooperation to safeguard regional stability and protect national gains.

Egyptian President Abdul Fatah el-Sisi received Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Ras el-Tin Palace in Alexandria, where they explored paths of further cooperation in development, and political and economic affairs, reported Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Sisi and the Crown Prince held bilateral talks, followed by meetings attended by the delegations of both countries, according to Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.

The Egyptian President expressed appreciation for the unrelenting support provided by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for Egypt, reaffirming his country’s keenness to grow bilateral relations.

Radi said the Crown Prince indicated that the UAE attaches great importance to consolidating the brotherly relations with Egypt.

UAE’s support for Egypt has been a pillar of the country’s foreign policy “since late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who was aware of the pivotal role and historical and political leverage of Egypt and was cognizant of the fact that Egypt's stability is fundamental to the security of all Arab nations," Sheikh Mohamed said.

UAE’s leadership is determined to bolster the development drive and stability-oriented efforts being made by Cairo, he said.

The talks also addressed challenges and crises facing Arab states, asserting the importance of Arab coordination and solidarity in maintaining the security and stability of the region.

Sheikh Mohamed indicated that the UAE appreciates the role of Egypt in maintaining Arab security.

UAE is keen to strengthen its cooperation with Egypt and the Arab states to restore stability, security and peace to the region, he said.

The Crown Prince expressed his great satisfaction with the progress made in the bilateral ties and looked forward to further develop them in the coming period, in line with the aspirations of both countries and peoples.

Both sides called for intensifying regional and international efforts to uproot terrorism and extremism and to expose the evil powers that foment terrorism through their media and political outlets.

They reiterated their adherence to the promotion of the values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance.

Later, the two leaders attended the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries to advance cooperation and bolster joint action at various fronts.

The first MoU focuses on ensuring integrated management of water resources while the second addresses technical cooperation in the field of standard specifications and technical regulations, and the third deals with fostering prospects of cooperation in the field of housing, construction and infrastructure, according to WAM.
